Everest Cycling Challenge

kids extreme sports

Everesting is a mountain climbing challenge that requires riders to climb a single hill continuously, unlike other challenges. This involves climbing and descending the same hill to reach the same elevation as Mount Everest. This activity is known as vEveresting. It is done via virtual reality platform Zwift.

The Everesting Challenge was introduced by the Hells 500 group. The idea of an endurance race was first proposed by a group adventure enthusiasts. Lachlan, a Pro Cycling Team member and rider of EF Pro Cycling Team is one of the group members. He completed an Everesting Ride in 7 hours, and now holds the world record for the fastest Everesting ride. He also holds the record for the fastest Everesting ride using an FSA/Vision equipped Cannondale SuperSix Disc, and the fastest ever ride on Metron 40 disc brake wheels.

It is popular among cyclists, as well other athletes. Because there are fewer vehicles involved it is safer and the weight is carried in shorter segments. Some riders race the Everesting Challenge solo. Others choose to run their effort on a treadmill. Some have completed their run in a quarantine area at home.

Nima Jjavaheri established a new Everesting World Record in March 2022. He reached 38,703m at La Croisette in France. He maintained a weighted power average of 260 watts during his run. This is equivalent to a marathon. He also achieved the longest free vertical ascent of any Everesting rider.

Everesting is not difficult at all, even though it may seem impossible. You can complete your own virtual Everesting ride on Zwift, or you can ride your favorite hill at home. Then, you can record your achievement on Strava or other GPS tracking devices. You can also do Everesting with a trainer, or on a gravel path.

The Everesting Challenge, also known as vEveresting, is a unique individual endurance race. It was originally inspired by the COVID 19 global pandemic. Fewer than 9,000 people in the world have ever attempted Everesting. The official Everesting website lists all Everesting-related achievements. It also includes official Mount Everest record records as well as the Everesting Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame lists the names of Everesters who were the most famous, those who completed the longest Everestings, as well as the length of the most successful Everestings.

George Mallory is the great-grandson and explorer of Britain, and one of their earliest everesting attempts. Mallory completed his Everesting from a bicycle. His climb reached 8,848 metres. This is the equivalent to the top of the highest mountain in the world. Mallory safely returned home in 1995. He also cycled Mount Donna Buang, an Australian mountain within the Mount Everest range. This was his fastest Everesting ride.

Another Everesting is virtual. You can do it on Zwift and with your trainer. Many mountains are available in the Hudson Valley for those who wish to take part in a physical everesting.
